  • Developed and standardized the surgical technique for the laparoscopic application of gastric banding (pars flaccida technique)
  • Experienced in laparoscopic gastric surgery and laparoscopic functional surgery of the stomach (Nissen/Toupet fundoplicatio)
  • Regularly performs live procedures in front of audiences in the following countries: Austria, Australia, Hungary, South Africa, Germany, Norway, Sweden, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Poland, Cyprus, Mexico,
  • Teaches at the European Surgical Institute, Hamburg, Germany, at the Laparoscopic Morbid Obesity Surgery Masterclass, Elancourt, France and Obesity Surgery for the Austrian Professional Surgical Association
  • Organize 20 international workshops per year since 2003 where over 1000 surgeons worldwide were given “hands-on” training on the laparoscopic application of gastric banding and gastric bypass
  • Organized the World Congress on Obesity Surgery 1999 in Salzburg Austria

  • Has given over 150 lectures worldwide

He is Immediate Past President of the International Federation for the Surgery of obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO) – President of the Austrian Society for Bariatric Surgery, Associate Editor of the Top Journal Obesity Surgery and in the Editorial Board of man high ranked Scientific Journals.
